Python Automation Toolkit

Python CLI Automation Security File Management

Project type: Independent builds

01. Problem

Everyday technical tasks were being handled manually or with scattered one-off scripts.

Basic recon, log analysis, file organising, and word counting needed reusable, standalone tools rather than another collection of disconnected manual steps.

The problem was practical: useful technical tasks existed, but there was no focused toolkit for running them consistently.

02. What I Did
PROJECT STATUS

Built four focused Python CLI tools and kept each one standalone.

01

Basic Recon Tool

Security Recon CLI

A command-line reconnaissance tool that gathers basic information about a domain or IP address, including DNS records, WHOIS information, and common port scanning.

Built with: Python · socket · whois · dnspython

02

Log Analysis Tool

Logs Analysis CLI

A command-line tool that parses log files, identifies useful patterns, highlights errors and warnings, and generates summary statistics for troubleshooting and system monitoring.

03

File Sorter

File Management Automation CLI

An automation script that organises files according to type, date, or custom rules. It scans a directory, groups files by extension, and moves them into appropriate folders.

05. Tradeoffs

Key decisions across the toolkit

The tools were deliberately designed around simplicity and practical usefulness rather than adding complexity for its own sake.

  • CLI over GUI — command-line tools are fast, scriptable, lightweight, and easy to integrate into other workflows.
  • Simplicity — each tool focuses on a specific task instead of becoming an unnecessarily large software suite.
  • Standalone — minimal dependencies make the tools easier to understand, modify, and run in different environments.
03. What Came of It

Four working, published tools, each doing one job cleanly.

The recon tool, log analyzer, file sorter, and word counter now provide reusable utilities for everyday technical automation.

Together, they demonstrate practical Python, CLI design, file operations, regex, text processing, and basic security tooling.
